After a ten (10) year hiatus, the Highland Park NAACP was reactivated in 2007 at the National NAACP Convention held in Detroit. Its reactivation is apart of a new social justice outlook that believes in regional equity and local political mobilization. The mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality  of rights for all people and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.  The NAACP firmly believes that as an organization it must play a critical role in addressing both national and local issues that impact the citizens in this country.  The Highland Park NAACP believes citizen mobilization and community organization is a key component of Highland Park’s renaissance. It is important that our local NAACP branches continue to focus its efforts on issues and challenges that are unique to their communities.
